The campaign aims mainly at increasing awareness of motorists and road users about the importance of paying full attention to the road ahead of them and keeping away from any other activity that distracts them.

Colonel Shawaf Abdel Rahman, Director of Traffic and Patrolling, said that some motorists are found to be recklessly driving and engaging in other activities while driving, including using mobile phones for talking, texting or taking snaps; eating and drinking. All these factors are leading the motorists to lose their concentration and control over the steering wheel.

“The reckless attitude of motorists can lead to fatal accidents. We regularly run road campaigns to increase motorists’ awareness about the importance of driving safely to save the lives of road users and property,” said Rahman. -afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
