Bridge to Al Dhaid road to be closed from today

Sharjah — The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) will partially close the bridge at the Shaikh Humaid bin Saqr Al Qasimi intersection for three days.

According to an official source, the bridge will be closed to motorists heading from Al Wahda road to Al Dhaid road from today till 9am on April 26.

“The bridge is being partially closed so as to carry out urgent maintenance works to boost its safety,” said the source.

All the worn out extension joints on the surface of the bridge will be removed and replaced with new ones that are 7.3m wide. “The maintenance works will prevent traffic accidents and protect lives. It will also make the bridge stronger so that heavy trucks can pass over it safely. Motorists are advised to use alternative roads.”

The project is in pursuance of the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

“All road and transport projects are designed to accommodate current and future needs of urban expansion in the emirate, enhance traffic flow and raise the standard of living of residents.”
