The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest of an Emirati motorist, pending investigation, for reckless driving and performing dangerous stunts in a European country.
The public prosecution said the motorist not only endangerehis life but that of others too.
A video of the motorist performing dangerous stunts and deliberately making loud noises to attract attention went viral on social media. The clip also showed that the car he was driving bore a UAE number plate.
Investigations revealed that the motorist himself shot and uploaded the video.
The public prosecution explained that the UAE law is applicable to every citizen who, during his travels abroad, commits an act that amounts to a crime according to the law of the UAE and that of the host country, in case he does not stand trial there.
Attorney-General of Abu Dhabi, Counselor Ali Mohammed Abdullah Al Balushi, urged Emirati citizens traveling abroad to respect laws and regulations of the host countries and to be good ambassadors for their country.
