The centre announced the project has been launched with eight Mercedes Vito vehicles driven by both women and men drivers that will be on road in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in the first phase. The good news is that there will be no change in fares for the service and there will also be a call centre service to book a cab.
“The new service is in line with the centre’s aspirations of pioneering in taxi services as per the best international practices whilst constantly endeavouring to ensure highest level of services that are on a par with Abu Dhabi’s objectives,” said Masood Mohammed Hashem, Assistant General Manager of Compliance, Licensing and Customer Service.
Specially designed to meet the highest quality and standards, the new service sees the operation of eight-fleet Mercedes Vito vehicles that have been retrofitted with state-of-the-art and bespoke technologies offering disabled people with security and convenience such as hydraulic systems to facilitate accessibility of people with feeble motor skills.
The centre has prioritised the requirements of disabled people, prepared a complete strategy that incorporated the first-hand know-how of services provided worldwide for this segment of the community and addressed them in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Hashem said.
Jameela Al Hameli, Assistant General Manager for Corporate Service at the centre, said the new vehicles have been fully designed and retrofitted with best-of-the-breed features to address the needs of disabled people of all ages.
“Such benefits include connecting vehicles with the ordering and distribution system to ensure efficient operation and users’ hassle-free accessibility to the service as well as the adherence of taxi companies to all standards and regulations set by the centre as they are in line with international standard,” she added.
