The confiscation was part of a campaign to keep the city clean, and the municipality had earlier warned the owners of these cars of the upcoming action.

Cars either abandoned or displayed for sale in public streets affected the beauty of the city, he said.

Selling used cars outside the assigned used car market is totally prohibited, the municipality inspectors would not leave cars with sale sign parked in the public street.

The violators will have to pay Dh300 to Dh1,000 as fine for such violation.

He pointed out that the municipality was making efforts to enhance the aesthetic look of the emirate.

“It is now undertaking a beautification project aimed at decorating Ajman’s private and public buildings and main roads. Special prepartions are also under way to protect plants, lawns and gardens in the emirate,” Al Maulla said.

“The municipality is making great efforts to spread awareness among people about how to keep the city clean and green. It is trying to inculcate civic sense in them, besides informing them about the importance of gardens in maintaining a healthy environment and reducing air pollution and heat. Greenery is a source of relaxation and happiness for everyone.”

Al Mualla said the municipality had set up a communication link for community members who wnat to present their complaints and suggestions as the municipality’s main objective was to serve members of the society and provide them with all facilities.
