World U-18 Tennis Tourney Kicks off in Fujairah

FUJAIRAH - The Interna-tional under-18 Lawn Tennis Tournament kicked off at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Fujairah on Tuesday.

As many as 128 seeded players from 33 countries in the world are taking part in the tournament, which is held under the auspices of Shaikh Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of Fujairah Culture and Information Authority, who is also president of Fujairah Tennis Club. It is being organised by the UAE Tennis Federation, under the supervision of the world’s tennis governing body.

“It has always been the endeavour of Shaikh Rashid to host the world’s junior champions here to demonstrate their skill and experience, and make international events a success,” said Abdul Ghafoor Bahrozian, Chairman of the board of directors of Fujairah Tennis Club addressing a press conference earlier.

The manager of the tournament and the manager of the club, Bruce Brown while welcoming the world class players, urged fans in the country to visit Fujairah to watch the tournament.

The management of the club has provided all facilities for the convenience of the guests and the fans, Brown added.
