Marwan struggles past Janez

AJMAN - Top seed Marwan Al Kaissi was made to sweat by 13-year-old Jordan Janez before winning 2-1 in the first Ajman Kempinski Open Junior Tennis, a UAE national ranking event held under the guidance of Tennis Emirates at the Kempinski Ajman Tennis courts.

Marwan started off in fine fashion to win the first set 6-2. In the second set Jordan with his big forehand fought hard to win it 7-6 (8) in the tie breaker. But Marwan fought back in the third set serving better and raised the tempo to win 6-2.

In the other semifinals, second seed Adarsh Ramesh was outplayed by Dylan Mendonca 6-1, 6-3.

Dylan with his big serves and hard hitting forehands gave very little chance to Adarsh in the first set. However in the second Adarsh rallied back by serving well. He however lost his service game at 3-5 to lose the match. In the boys under-18, top seed Kirk Revbeyas moved into the final with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Vivian Britto. Marwan Kaissi also moved into the finals with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Palash Mishra.

Results: Boys: Under-16 (Quarter-final): Marwan Kaissi bt Ekus Suri 6-0, 6-0; Jordan Janszen bt Palash Mishra 6-1, 7-6; Dylan Mendonca bt Arjuna Ajai 6-4, 6-2; Adarsh Ramesh bt Arjun Singh 6-2, 7-5.

Under-12: Miro Matagne bt Filip Voyo 6-0, 6-2; Shayan Azari bt Evci Hattan 6-1, 7-6.
