No problem with Huawei devices in UAE, says TRA

Dubai - Mate 20 Pro also reinstated on Google's Android Q Beta Platform

Embattled Chinese tech giant Huawei received a double-dose of positive news, both on the local and international front.
The UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued a statement regarding the state of Huawei's products in the UAE, highlighting its mission of protecting consumer rights.
"All vendors and manufacturers of telecom devices have to protect consumers' rights and provide all related services to keep the stability of the UAE telecom market," the statement, released late on Thursday, said.
After "several meetings", the authority confirmed that Huawei assured that "all its products being sold in the local market, including its stock in warehouses, will not be affected by the recent developments".
All apps, plus their security updates on Google Play, are available "without any issues" in the UAE.
"Huawei affirmed its full commitment to comply with the customer relation charter and provide all services of its products sold in the UAE," the TRA added.
And what could be an even bigger bit of good news: Google - the highest-profile name to distance itself from the company - has apparently reinstated Huawei on its Android Q Beta site.
The US government recently included Huawei in what is called an Entity List, effectively blacklisting and banning the company from conducting business with American firms.
The repercussions - including cutting off Huawei's access to Google services and security updates - have become a major concern for the ecosystem and, most especially, end-users.
Android Q is the next version of Google's mobile operating system, after the present Android Pie. On its website, it lists the Huawei Mate 20 Pro - which was launched last year - as one of the devices that Android Q would be tested on.
"Android Q Beta is now available on a range of popular devices from our top device-maker partners," the webpage says. "This page lists eligible devices, with links to each device maker's site for updates and support."
