Now that you've read some of the most intriguing crime cases of this past century, it's time to get your own detective hats on and try out these fun, mystery-filled, puzzling and sometimes-grisly, hidden objective detective games. Are you ready to channel your inner Sherlock Holmes?
Last Express
This one is more Agatha Christie than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, especially since it involves a murder on a train in an Edwardian setting. Nevertheless, it's a tight-paced adventure full of great characters and great puzzles and tricky clues. There's also plenty of action, romance and plot twists. It's from the creator of the hugely successful Prince of Persia franchise, so it's bound to be good!

Unlikely ?Suspects HD
Think Cluedo, except with more characters and a lot more possibilities of combinations of crime scenes, weapons and suspects. In fact, the game boasts over 4,000 possible outcomes, so there's plenty to keep you engrossed. There are 16 characters - one is chosen at random to be the victim, while the other 15 line up as suspects. Solve visual puzzles, gather clues such as airline tickets and possible murder weapons, and witness statements, until you're ready to make your case. There's also a free demo version, and it works on Macs and PCs as well.

The Room
If you're looking for the kind of atmosphere you'll only find in a really good mystery novel, then look no further than The Room. This superb puzzle game has a dark and creepy feel, especially with the chilling background music, as you unlock various boxes by finding keys and mechanical pieces, open drawers, unlock safes and decode cryptic messages. It's a puzzle wrapped in a mystery, and, it even won a BAFTA award!

CSI: Hidden Crimes
No closet crime-solving super sleuth can go without knowing about CSI. For fans of the TV show, this game is just as good as all those great episodes of Horatio Cane tracking down bad guys. Set in Las Vegas, the game is written by Jack Gutowitz, the writer of the original TV show, and your job is to find clues, analyse the evidence, and finally, solve the case.
