Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel’s fiancée supermodel Miranda Kerr is facing the heat for a controversy that she never created.

After claims by a former Snapchat employee that Spiegel refuses to expand business to ‘poor countries like India’, Kerr has been pulled into the raging row.

On her Instagram page (@mirandakerr), the former Victoria’s Secret model has received an avalanche of rude comments. Many of these are expletives-ridden and apparently deem Kerr guilty due to her association with Spiegel.

A disgruntled @shaik747 said, “Your partner is such a racist..... At least teach him something....” Comments of similar nature have appeared in the thread earlier.

Interestingly, some Indians have even apologised on behalf of those who sent these hate messages.

Instagrammer @i.am.kdg chimed in: "The thing is what has she done to deserve hatred. She did not make any comment about India. Even her husband's comments are not verified. If you want to make your point do it on other platform from your account."

@bhavanaxoxo claims that the attacks to the model were grounds for harassment: "I am apologizing on behalf of my country. You do not deserve the hate. WE don't even know if he actually said that. IT WAS NOT A DIRECT QUOTE!! stop harassing her!"

Meanwhile, parent company Snap Inc. has denied the statement made by its former employee. A Buzzfeed report also rubbished the claims.
