Oppo late on Tuesday introduced its newest line-up of smartphones in the UAE and region, featuring their "most innovative" cameras as it seeks to capture more market share in the hotly-contested mobile segment.
The Reno5 series — Z, 5G and Pro 5G — combines across-the-board 5G capabilities and the Chinese brand's latest photo and video innovations.
Oppo — the fourth-biggest device vendor according to Counterpoint Research — has enjoyed success with its devices, rivalling Xiaomi behind industry giants Apple and Samsung. Smartphone brands have also seized the opportunity to rack up market share with the challenges Chinese giant Huawei is facing.
"We put our heart and soul into innovating for the benefit of people, from equipping customers for the 5G era that is developing at breakneck speed in the region, to developing tools for people-centric photography and videography to help users to master their creative expression," Ethan Xue, president of Oppo Middle East and Africa, said in a statement.
The highest-end Reno5 Pro 5G features a quad-lens camera anchored by a 50MP that supports what Oppo dubs All-Pixel Omni Focus, with which every pixel is used to focus on an image and that would provide consistent high-quality results. It also comes with a new dual-view video mode.
Both the Pro 5G and 5G models support Oppo's famed super-fast charging capability — the company says both devices can be fully-charged in 35 minutes — and are also equipped to handle performance-demanding tasks such as gaming.
The entry level Reno5 Z, meanwhile, is aimed at what its name implies — Generation Z users. It also comes with the latest photography features, with the goal of helping young creators.
The Reno Pro 5G, 5G and Z are priced at Dh2,799, Dh1,999 and Dh1,499, respectively.
Meanwhile, Oppo also marked the Middle East debut of its latest wearable, the Oppo Band. The smartwatch-sized band's key feature is allowing users to identify sleep problems by monitoring blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) levels. The Dh179 device also comes with 12 workout modes and is water resistant up to 50 metres.
