Fatima is a nature lover and maintains that there are many lessons to be learnt from nature. “I have a very strong connection with nature. I spend a lot of time outdoors and there are profound lessons to be learnt from nature. The formation of birds and the sun rising all inspire me.”
The love of nature is reflected in the cover of Fatima’s book which covers all the elements of nature. Designed by her thirteen-year-old son, the cover is very intriguing and draws a reader immediately to the book.
Fatima is great proponent of family values and believes that by being involved parents we can lay the foundation of a good society. In her book there are many scripts and quotes that revolve around family values and mental strength.
“My teachers in school described me as incisive, sensitive and someone with an eye for detail. I think these are the qualities that made me think and helped me understand life.”
An engineer by profession, she has a clarity in her vision and has used this clarity to express her thoughts. In her opinion, the biggest struggles people face today is that of constant chase of perfection. “We start measuring our happiness through the lenses of other people’s opinion, waste time in comparisons instead of focusing on personal growth. This leads to self-abandonment, low self-esteem.”
Fatima believes that mental wellbeing is about being in tune with your thoughts, actions and emotions. It comes when you accept your strengths but also your flaws.
Speaking of mental wellbeing, Fatima believes that unlike before, community happiness is now one of the leadership objectives.
Fatima through her writings has drawn her readers attention to many self-created issues that can be avoided. “My thoughts are drawn from what I see, feel and observe. And with that, I aim to spark a connection and understanding. That’s what lead me to write Reflections.”
Fatima, on her recent visit to Pakistan, gave a presentation at a local senior citizen home. Her quest for building a good society through nurturing family values is at the very heart of her book.
