Saying ‘yes’ to destiny: The emergence of a new-era enterprise luminary

Shafeeq Abdurahiman – a frontier-shaping business leader driving growth across property, hospitality, integrated accommodation ecosystems and precision-driven steel innovation

A journey rooted in humility and ambition

Shafeeq Abdurahiman grew up in a modest Kozhikode home, guided by a strong moral compass and a family ethos that valued discipline above circumstance. His admiration for Argentinian football later inspired the name of his first company, but ambition defined his trajectory. A chance encounter with a UAE businessman who recognised his potential introduced him to a nation he viewed as structured, aspirational and full of opportunity. He embraced the opening immediately, setting the foundation for the multi-sector leadership he would later build across the Emirates.

Saying yes to the UAE

It was Ibrahim Abdullah Al Harmoudi who recognised Shafeeq’s discipline and early promise, encouraging him to see the UAE as the environment where he could grow. When the visa arrived, he moved without hesitation. In 2005, still in his late teens and guided only by his mentor’s faith, he landed in Sharjah with quiet resolve. Welcomed into Ibrahim’s home and real-estate office, he gained rare exposure to negotiation, client management and the mechanics of the industry. Six defining years later, Ibrahim offered him the first right to acquire the company – a trust Shafeeq honoured through a purchase that marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial ascent.

From Al Maniya to AMR – building an enterprise

Acquiring the company transformed his path. He rebranded it Al Maniya, inspired by his affinity for Argentina’s football ethos, and rapidly expanded across the UAE before evolving it into AMR Group – a multi-emirate enterprise delivering property management, freehold advisory, development consultancy, feasibility analysis, valuation and strategic real-estate marketing. What began as a modest operation now includes substantial accommodation and service infrastructure supporting major developers, with 600–700 professionals across AMR and the wider A1 portfolio working under his leadership.

A landmark entry into advanced steel engineering

A1 Holding’s most pivotal recent milestone is its acquisition of Cleveland Bridges & Engineering Middle East LLC, a legacy pillar of Dubai’s steel sector. Announced in the presence of Sheikh Suhail bin Ali Al Maktoum; Dr Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, Partner and Chairman of A1 Group; Shafeeq Abdurahiman, Partner and Managing Director of A1 Group, the move marks a decisive industrial leap. Established in 1977, the facility is being revived as an advanced steel-engineering hub with upgraded systems and AI-driven precision, positioning A1 Holding at the forefront of regional infrastructure and high-spec development.

Creating A1 Holding – an integrated powerhouse

As his ventures expanded, Shafeeq consolidated them into A1 Holding, co-founded with Dr Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, where he serves as Partner and Managing Director, supported by long-standing partner Abu Khaled. A1 today unifies high-impact verticals – real estate and development, hospitality, security services, facilities management, business centres and large-scale workforce accommodation – stewarding around 120 accommodation assets for major organisations across Dubai. Alongside its UAE presence, Shafeeq has invested in hospitality in India and is expanding into Saudi Arabia with a focused thrust in construction, development and regional industrial capability.

Hospitality, development and the road ahead

Hospitality now stands as a core pillar of Shafeeq’s expanding footprint, with ‘Acacia 4 star hotel Ras Al Khaimah set to open, and two Dubai hotels scheduled for 2026. Combined with strengthened development capabilities and a growing multi-sector base, A1 Holding is positioned as an integrated force shaping the region’s next phase of infrastructure and economic growth.

Risk, resilience and rising stronger

For Shafeeq, risk is inseparable from enterprise. He acknowledges falling many times, yet each setback sharpened his discipline and resolve. During COVID-19, he handed his accommodation facilities to the Dubai Government and offered free housing to quarantined expatriates – turning a global crisis into an act of service to the nation that shaped his rise.

Gratitude to the UAE – honoured with elegance

Shafeeq credits the UAE’s clarity, stability and visionary leadership as the bedrock of his rise. For twelve years, he has commemorated UAE National Day by unveiling a brand-new luxury car, exquisitely decorated in UAE themes as a moving homage to the nation and its rulers. This year, a striking new edition is underway, honouring the nation that shaped his rise.

Family, faith and the duty to give back

Shafeeq’s principles are rooted in the enduring resolve of his late father, Abdurahiman – his first mentor – and the support of his mother and sisters, Sajida, Naseema, Mumtaz and Shabna, who steadied his early journey from Kerala to the UAE. Today, his wife Fathimathul Harsha, whose consistent support strengthens both his life and work, and their children Shaza and Faza remain his core foundation. For Shafeeq, success carries responsibility: what God grants must be shared. Uplifting people, he believes, is the true measure of a life well lived.

Legacy and vision

Shafeeq Abdurahiman envisions A1 Holding advancing as a major Middle Eastern force – scaling its diversified enterprises and deepening its regional impact. His legacy is defined by people and purpose: empowering teams, honouring partner trust and contributing meaningfully to the UAE’s long-term economic vision.
