Mariam Sheikh is often seen at her very busy Jaipur and Co stall at Dubai’s very prestigious Boulevard One exhibitions.
Her jewellery is individually crafted and most of her pieces, are designed by herself. Mariam started her business in 2015, and since then, Jaipur and Co has become a symbol of elegant and very wearable jewellery for any occasion.
One of the motivation behind her brand was the growing inaccessibility of gold and silver jewellery. “As we are witnessing an astronomical rise in gold and silver prices, I wanted to create an alternative that preserved the visual luxury and craftsmanship associated with fine jewellery while making it more wearable, versatile and attainable for modern women.”
Mariam’s expertise comes from both, hands on exposure and formal education along with years of experience, and working closely with stones, artisans, and design development. Complemented by an MBA in business management and fashion merchandising along with practical and academic experience, Mariam has kept an eye on the modern trends in the jewellery world.
“Fashion moves rapidly, and jewellery has evolved by many folds. Today, women value versatility, the ability to style multiple looks rather than relying on single traditional investment piece. Practicality has become increasingly important.”
According to Marium, the UAE market is exceptionally sophisticated and globally aware of all new trends. “Clients in UAE are highly attuned to luxury trends and they appreciate both craftsmanship, and bold designs. Compared to other regions the people here are quality conscious and have a keen eye for elegant finish, scale and presentation. In the dynamic market of UAE, approach has always been to make jewellery celebratory and wearable.”
