Leonardo is displaying its state-of-the-art technologies at the IDEX exhibition (stands 06-A03 and 05-C32).

"This IDEX event is an optimistic look-forward into the new year," said Pasquale Di Bartolomeo, Chief Commercial Officer at Leonardo. "During 2020, Leonardo was able to maintain proximity to its customers through a widespread international presence, like our branch in Abu Dhabi. In 2021, we maintain our support to the UAE institutions and Armed Forces' operations, as well as working towards identifying new areas of opportunity. With this forward-thinking mind set, the Leonardo is bringing its technologies to Expo 2020 Dubai and collaborating with Emirati and Italian entities to contribute to the success of this global event."

The company's offer for the Middle East includes advanced guided ammunition for land and naval applications, as seen with the Vulcano family of guided ammunition. Leonardo's long history in combat proven naval systems along with its understanding of the UAE Navy's needs are the foundations of the offer submitted by Leonardo to Tawazun. Leonardo aims to collaborate with Emirati industries in the designing and manufacturing of the future national Combat Management System, the heart of the future naval strength of the UAE. Today, the UAE Navy has more than 20 Combat Management Systems provided by Leonardo and a large number of naval guns, including the well-known OTO 76/62 mm and other smaller calibre, which equip vessels including the Ghannatha, Baynunah, Falaj 2 and Abu Dhabi-class corvettes. Within the naval field, Leonardo also provides the AW149, AW159, AW101 and NH90 helicopters which can be equipped with company's advanced sensors like acoustic anti-submarine warfare system, AESA radar such as the Osprey 30 and the Miysis directed infrared countermeasure, able to protect air platforms for the most sophisticated threats.

The Middle East's Air Forces are increasing their capacity with mixed aircraft fleets, including different fighter models, and this is why Leonardo is continuing to promote its pilot training capabilities. This includes the M-346 advanced training aircraft, which is also available in the Fighter Attack version; the new basic-advanced M-345, recently delivered to the Italian Air Force and training services which will be provided by the International Flight Training School (IFTS), a collaboration between Leonardo and the Italian Air Force.

The training services offered by Leonardo are not just limited to pilots though: the company has recently sold in the Middle East a cyber range & training platform, for cyber security operators and the cyber assessment of digital infrastructure.  Digital security is part of a broader Leonardo's offer for the protection of citizens and national economic activities, including critical infrastructure i.e. hospitals and airports, like tailored counter-drones solutions for both civil and defence use. The company can also provide satellite data collections and satellite services for urban and environmental monitoring. Leonardo attends to IDEX together its US arm Leonardo DRS and their technologies are also hosted at the event on the stands of their Emirati partners IGG, NIMMR, Earth / EDGE and ETS.
