RAK Ceramics was established in Ras Al Khaimah in 1989 by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, with a vision to use the best machinery, latest technology and produce the best products possible for sale globally.

Since its formation, the product portfolio has expanded to become one of the world's largest ceramics lifestyle providers. RAK Ceramics specialises in ceramic and grès porcelain wall and floor tiles, tableware, sanitaryware and faucet products. It can produce 123 million square metres of tiles, five million pieces of sanitaryware, 24 million pieces of porcelain tableware and one million faucets per year at its 22 state-of-the-art plants across the globe. From its headquarters in Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Ceramics serves clients in more than 150 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Asia, North and South America and Australia.

Novel products

Product innovation remains RAK Ceramics' top priority, as well as focussing on developing innovative products in terms of design, functionality and value.

An excellent example of this is the new RAK-Sanit, a product designed and developed at headquarters. The RAK-Sanit glaze can be applied to a range of tile, surfaces and sanitaryware products and eliminates bacteria and guarantees built-in protection throughout the entire expected product lifetime.

Also created was an innovative range of translucent Maximus slabs. Luce is a super-sized slab that beautifully transforms spaces when backlit and can be stunning centrepieces for design concepts.

While most products are designed and developed in the UAE, some of its products are created through partnerships overseas.

Technological advancements

Operational and manufacturing technologies have enabled the business to develop and efficiency to increase while reducing CO2 emissions. RAK Ceramics continues to invest in new technologies such as solar rooftops and co-generation technologies in the manufacturing process. It is a large energy consumer, so adopting new technologies that improve energy consumption achieve sustainability and ultimately improves the bottom line. The company is focussed on digitalisation and its facilities allow the production of a range of products, such as anti-microbial tiles and water-saving sanitaryware products, which have a positive impact on the environment.

Innovative projects

RAK Ceramics' products have been featured in some of the most iconic buildings in the world - from Burj Al Arab, and Atlantis The Palm, to Wembley Stadium, The O2 Arena, and projects of all sizes in between.

It is slated for many exciting projects for the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai, supplying both tile and sanitaryware products for many of the prominent pavilions. The company has collaborated with a talented artist on a special exhibition using big slabs and is looking forward to its unveiling at the Sustainability Pavilion.
