Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is concentrating on growing its diverse research offerings and activities

In line with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi's renewed strategic plan which reflects the vision of Professor Jean Chambaz, President of Sorbonne University in Paris, and mirrors the nature of Sorbonne University as a multidisciplinary research-led institution. Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi recently launched a new research section on its website highlighting its diverse research offerings and activities. The various activities span across the range of areas of expertise of the Abu Dhabi-based research academics. Research projects are mainly developed within, but not limited to, specific focal areas such as artificial intelligence, Gulf studies and heritage studies.

The research section covers interdisciplinary areas that are in line with the UAE's national development plan. Moreover, the research activities at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi fall within its fields of excellence and are supported by Sorbonne University's research centres in Paris.

As a multidisciplinary research-led institution, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi reinforces a research-based education environment within its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and encourages its students to take part in the research projects and launch their own initiatives. The university also aims to develop partnerships and collaborations with other universities and research centres in the region. The campus is home to a branch of The French Research Centre of the Arabian Peninsula (CEFREPA). Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is also very active in organising conferences, colloquiums and various scientific events, to which internationally renowned researchers are invited.

The research section features 25 full-time research academics based in Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, visiting professors, projects, books, and scientific events. Currently, there are almost 18 different projects covering various fields such as philosophy, law, history, environment, space, physics, geography, sociology and archaeology, in addition to over 40 events ranging from academic conferences to intellectual talks or movie screens.

The research section also includes books of the full-time research academics that they publish as monographs or under their direction. Currently, there are eight books covering topics -- from language and literature to sociology, geography and law.
