Dubai - Mushtaq and iyer have come together to appeal to the young UAE cricketers to stay home and stay safe as the world grapples with the menace of Covid-19

One was the world's best off-spinner in the mid and late 1990s, scripting many a memorable win for a star-studded Pakistan team. And the other is a rising Indian batting star whose classy stroke-play and unflappable temperament have steered India to victories in tough run chases.
Saqlain Mushtaq and Shreyas Iyer represent the two bitter rivals in world cricket -- Pakistan and India.
And yet, both have come together to appeal to the young cricketers of Dubai's Maxtalent Global Sports Cricket Academy to stay home and stay safe as the world grapples with the menace of Covid-19.

Sudhakar Shetty, who runs the Maxtalent Global Sports Cricket Academy, has been offering students online coaching at the time of social distancing. And Mushtaq, the man famous for introducing the 'doosra' (the other one) -- the ball that turns away from right-handers -- said turning away from the clutches of the deadly virus is the most important thing now.
"My appeal to Mr Shetty, all the players of Maxtalent and all the parents, and the public as well, will be to stay home. The need of the hour is we should be staying at home and be patient. I know it's a tough time, but good times will come again," Saqlain said in a video message.
"You can still create a lot staying at home. You can do yoga, you can play indoor games and spend your time productively and learn from each other.
"Pick a topic, any topic, how to be successful in life, how to be a good human being, how to achieve your targets and goals. Spend your time wisely. Stay united."
Meanwhile, Iyer, who is also the brand ambassador for the Maxtalent's adivasi project in Dugad village, Maharashtra, India, urged the UAE youngsters to make the best use of the time indoors.
"Hi, this is Shreyas Iyer, best wishes to all cricket lovers, especially to the Max Talent trainees, their parents and the adivasi children from Dugad," Iyer said in a video message.
"I hope you all stay safe, stay home and indulge in indoor activity. I know we are going through a tough time, but it's important that you make the best use of this time and we will come through this together. So, stay healthy and stay safe and most importantly, stay home."
