Skipper Ayaan Misbah was brilliant with the bat again as the UAE won the ACC Men’s Under 16 West Zone Cup in Qatar with an emphatic 145-run win over Kuwait in the final on Monday night.

Having enjoyed an unbeaten run in the league phase, the UAE were unstoppable in the title decider, posting a massive 317 for nine in 50 overs.

Ayaan, the top-scorer in the tournament, scored a sparkling 143.

The talented opening batter's third century of the tournament was the cornerstone of the UAE innings as Aryan Thapar (64), Shanshank Mantra (37) and Raizal Nadir Shah (31) also played important knocks.

In reply, Kuwait were bowled out for 172 in 43.1 overs with Nasim Khan taking four wickets for 20 runs. Thapar took three wickets as Kuwait struggled to cope with the UAE bowling attack.

The Emirates Cricket Board congratulated the team on their resounding success in the tournament.

“The Emirates Cricket Board is delighted with the U16 team’s performance in Doha which has resulted in the successful defence of the ACC Men’s U16 West Zone Cup which the team had won last year in Sharjah," the ECB said in a statement.

“The Emirates Cricket Board will continue to provide opportunities to these youngsters who are the future stars of UAE cricket. We wish the players and the coaching staff the very best in the pursuit of their cricketing dreams and ambitions.”
