The rub of the green may have gone against the Delhi Bulls in their first match of the Super League stage but there have been plenty of positives for Eoin Morgan's men in the Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Apart from Morgan, England's World Cup-winning skipper and Sri Lankan veteran Angelo Mathews, who have led the line with the bat, Ravi Rampaul too has been one of their standouts.
The West Indian was a late replacement for Pakistan's Aamir Yamin after the latter was one of the players who were denied NOCs by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
And the West Indian has served the Delhi Bulls well with the ball. After warming up with tidy figures of none for nine against the Deccan Gladiators, Rampaul went on to take two for 17 against the Karnataka Tuskers, two for 13 against the Bangla Tigers and one for 29 against the Northern Warriors.
His showing has been even more remarkable because the format is tilted towards the batsmen and Rampaul has bowled at the death.
"Ravi Rampaul has been a standout bowler for us, bowling in the death," Anis Sajan, the team mentor told the Khaleej Times.
Prior to the Super League matches on Wednesday, Rampaul sits sixth on the wicket takers list with five scalps from four fixtures. His economy rate has been 8.37 with a strike rate of 9.6.
And Sajan was pretty delighted with Rampaul's heroics.
His analysis in this tournament, especially bowling in the death overs, has been second to none. He has been our best bowler, making sure the opposition does not run away with a big score," said Sajan.
"Normally, T10 is a batsman game but he has proved that bowlers who are smart can have their say. He was picked by Morgan and Stephen (Fleming) after a superb NatWest series where, again, his death bowling was the best. We could not have asked for a better replacement for Aamir Yamin, who had been our standout bowler in the first two seasons," he added.
