In a bid to make the UAE the No. 1 team in Asia, the Professional League Committee (PLC) has chalked out a four-year roadmap with all the 14 clubs during its second PLC Board meeting held at The Address Hotel in Dubai late on Monday.
The almost five-hour brainstorming session, according to the Chairman of PLC, Abdulla Naser Al Junaibi, delved on PLC's new strategies and the vision it has for the country in the coming four years.
"Today (Monday) we had our second board meeting with the 14 clubs of the PLC. The discussion was mainly about the new strategy of the PLC since the old vision we had was almost more than six years ago. Also our target is to be No. 1 in Asia, according to the Asian Football Confederation," Al Junaibi said.
"The new criteria of the PLC will focus more on the technical aspects which again will count on how the national team performs and the results of the football clubs playing in the Asian Champions League. So at the meeting we decided that we need to change our strategy to meet our goals according to the changes.
"We had an open discussion with all 14 clubs on what our vision will be in the coming years, our strategy to reach that vision, and our projects to achieve our target. Accordingly after approving the road map, we have decided, beginning today, after one month we will announce the new strategy and the projects in detail.
"Another important point discussed was the technical issues. We shared with the clubs what are the main points that we need to raise and discuss on the technical side. We have already formed a technical team that will do some studies of some of the points and we will have a workshop with some of the technical experts from the clubs like say their technical manager or coach, or whoever, to discuss with the team that we have formed and to analyse what are the results of the studies.
"They will give us their thoughts so that way we can develop our league technically," Al Junaibi added.
Finally, we discussed the financial reports which we got approved from the clubs and also discussed some marketing aspects on how to generate and raise our income for PLC.
"We needed to share our vision and strategy with the clubs for the next four years. So we all decided what our road map should be like. After one month from today we will set the ball rolling and I hope so that according to the target we have set for the next four years we are able to achieve it," said an optimistic Al Junaibi.
