Liverpool's Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah will receive the Outstanding Arab Athlete award along with the other winners of the Mohammed Bin Rashid (MBR) Creative Sports Award on Wednesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre's Sheikh Rashid Ballroom.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, has congratulated all the winners of the 10th edition of the MBR Creative Sports Award.
The MBR Creative Sports Award is organised under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan.
It is the biggest award of its kind in terms of value and diversity of categories, and dedicated to inspiring creativity in sports - not just in the UAE, but around the Arab world and the globe. The list of winners for the 10th edition also includes Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak (Local Sports Personality), the CEO of Manchester City FC; Turki Al Sheikh of Saudi Arabia (Arab Sports Personality).
Welcoming the winners to Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan said: "In line with our leadership's approach of appreciating and honouring creativity in every sphere of life, we assemble around this time every year to welcome the sporting world's leading creators and honour them in recognition of their innovative efforts, achievements and initiatives that contribute towards the development of sport, and enhance its status and its role in increasing the happiness of people and the development of nations.
"This year, the awards hold an even greater significance because it coincides with our celebrations marking the achievements and efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in his 50 years of service to the nation.
"The awards not only have the honour of bearing the name of this great visionary, but they are also held under the banner of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives."
