At 52 and three decades on the Ladies European Tour (LET), Laura Davies has seen it all. And she knows it all too well that when someone is on song, they are really tough to beat.
China's Shanshan Feng is yet to achieve the greatness and the standing of Davies, the 'Grand Old Lady of Women's Golf,' with a record seven LET Order of Merits spanning two decades. But Feng has made the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters more or less her own with two titles and is now eyeing a record third this week.
And Davies, making her ninth appearance in the 10th edition of this tournament, said that the rest of the field have a battle on their hands in trying to stop Feng's charge but added that they will do everything they can to make a match of it, going into the business end of the tournament.
Tied fourth overnight, Davies shot an identical four-under 68 to move to second, two shots behind the leader Feng, who fired a five-under to be overall 10-under at the Majlis Course of the Emirates Golf Club on Thursday.
"I've been saying all along, I've been hitting it well tee-to-green and the difference this week is 27 putts and 31 putts. I've been 34, 35, 36, 37 even in some rounds, and you can't compete competing like that," said Davies.
