There is, arguably, a cricket enthusiast in every NRI household in the UAE. While the sport itself has evolved tremendously over the years, cricket continues to be a passport to nostalgia for many of us.
That match where Kapil Dev took the most important wicket or the one where Tendulkar scored a century against all odds relates to a personal moment of triumph.
No wonder then we are all excited about this year's edition of the Indian Premier League that will be played out in our turf.

And while the tournament starts from September 19, the teams have already landed and have been preparing for the matches.
The curious cat inside us often leads us to the social media feeds of the players just so we remain updated about what our favourite sportsmen have been up to.

But has this public gaze into the worlds of cricketers taken away from the allure of elusiveness?
Much like Hollywood or Bollywood stars, cricketers are now in control of the narratives they want to be sent out for mass consumption.
And while it surely helps them, die-hard fans could also do with some less fancily curated versions of sporting heroes.
How about a dash of candour?!?
