With the arrival of all eight franchises in the UAE (though a few more players have yet to reach these shores), the countdown to the Indian Premier League, the richest cricket tournament in the world, has begun.
The stage is set and these are exciting times for fans who have been deprived of cricket for a long time due to the pandemic.

From "Hello Dubai" tweets to pictures posted by the players on their social media pages, there's a great sense of enthusiasm as the most-awaited cricket tournament will be held in the
country I live, the UAE.
In these tough times that have seen many events getting postponed or cancelled, the IPL tournament finally having a confirmed date brings its own thrills and challenges both for
players as well as the cricket fans.
While fans have been patiently waiting for the tournament to kick off, the players who have been off practice due to the pandemic are working twice as hard to put their best foot forward
for the game, both physically and mentally.
The IPL format has a unique charm of its own, where teams are divided based on different cities, yet the game's fans are united all over the world to cheer for their teams in the
action-packed Twenty20 matches.
Experiencing these matches in the stadium or meeting our favourite players may not be possible due to the circumstances, yet the excitement is still palpable.
The fans simply can't wait for the first ball to be bowled.
