Red Flowers Tourism snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Ibsons for a three-run loss in a thrilling Group A match of the Asianet Premier League T20 at the Dubai Rugby Sevens ground.
Their top five batsmen took them to the door of what should have been a comfortable win but panic set in and three run outs at crucial junctures was a result of Red Flowers falling short of their target. Ibsons were off to a flying start after winning the toss and opting to bat. Babar Malik struck two fours in his short stay scoring 12 from 9 balls. But Waheed Ahmed and man of the match Shahzad Malik continued to plunder runs at will. Waheed departed after a brisk 39 from 20 balls which contained three sixes and an equal number of fours.
Meanwhile Shahzad helped himself to a half century. His 42-ball stay at the crease for his 56 was laced with two sixes and four boundaries. But it was Ibrahim Malik's cameo that turned the match for Ibsons. Coming in at No. 6 Malik blasted an unbeaten 35 from 20 balls (2x6, 2x4) to take the Ibsons total to 185. Red Flowers began their chase well with openers Waqas Raja (22) and Yakoob Masih (30) giving them a positive start but suffering defeat.
