As the Ultimate Golf Challenge (UGC) gets set to tee up its much-anticipated Season 3, all eyes are firmly on the Noble Legacy Masters, the reigning champions who lifted the trophy in a dramatic Season 2 finale at Emirates Golf Club in February 2025.

With momentum on their side and a carefully assembled squad, the champions are embracing the pressure that comes with defending a title.

Co-owner Achal Ghai believes the foundations for another strong campaign have been laid, pointing to a smoothly run player auction as a sign of the league’s evolution.

“The player auction was handled very well by the league,” Ghai said. “You can really see the maturity coming through now. Being in our third season, it felt fair, structured, and well-balanced for all team owners. From a league perspective, it’s moving in the right direction.”

Calculated squad building

The Noble Legacy Masters, who edged out The A Team in a nail-biting finish last season, have taken a deliberate approach to squad building this year. Ghai revealed the focus has shifted toward quality, diversity, and adaptability, key traits in a competition that spans multiple courses over four intense days.

“We’re genuinely excited about the mix we’ve achieved this season,” he said. “There’s more diversity, more low-handicap players, and a strong balance across the squad. That gives us confidence as we look to build a team culture and compete across very different course conditions.”

With 10 franchise teams, 160 players, and more than 350 rounds of golf packed into a fast-paced, four-day format, the UGC has drawn comparisons to the Indian Premier League, bringing a fresh, team-owned energy to amateur golf in the UAE. Since its inception, the league has rapidly established itself as a trailblazer in the regional golf scene.

Prioritising team chemistry

For the defending champions, preparation goes beyond talent alone.

“Team-building will be absolutely key for us,” Ghai added. “Last season showed how important chemistry and belief are. We’ve leaned into that again, and we’re prepared to work hard to defend what we earned.”

As Season 3 approaches on February 5, the message from the Noble Legacy Masters camp is clear: the hunger remains, the squad is stronger, and the ambition is firmly set on going back-to-back in a league that continues to redefine competitive corporate golf in the UAE.
