Kang reigns as Sharjah finale delivers high drama and captivating competition
Vardy clinches double OOM glory, capping off a dominant season with Net and Gross titles

Jin Kang emerged as the star of the day as the 2024 season of the Orient Travel & Saudi Tourism Monthly Medal came to an exhilarating close at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club (SGSC) last weekend — delivering high drama, fierce competition, and celebrations worthy of a spectacular golfing finale.
With much more than monthly bragging rights on the line — including coveted trips to Thailand — the final medal round had players battling for supremacy in the season-long Net and Gross Order of Merit (OOM) standings.

Kang ruled the day, carding a brilliant net 70 to take home the May Monthly Medal title. His scorecard featured five net birdies and two net eagles in a round that was as exciting as it was consistent. Kang edged out Shagir Mohammed by countback, with both players finishing on net 70. Aamir Inam also made a strong showing, clinching third place with a net 71.
Double OOM Triumph
The finale also saw the crowning of this year’s standout performer — Josh Vardy. With nerves of steel and precision to match, Vardy completed a dominant campaign by winning both the Net and Gross Order of Merit titles. He secured the Gross OOM comfortably, having led from the front all season. In the Net OOM, Vardy held off fierce competition to finish at the top, cementing his status as the club’s most consistent player of the year.
In the Net OOM, Gaurav Ajmani clinched second place after a season of strong performances, narrowly edging out Club Captain Shaheen Butt, who settled for third.
The Gross OOM leaderboard also saw a close contest, with Ramli Sulaiman finishing runner-up and Sami Butt rounding out the top three after impressive seasons of their own.
