Will Enefer secured his first victory on the HotelPlanner Tour in dramatic fashion, birdieing the opening play-off hole to win the CIRCA Cape Town Open at Royal Cape Golf Club in South Africa.
The win moves the Englishman up to second place in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, significantly boosting his bid for a return to the DP World Tour later this season, and underlining the importance of his breakthrough success.
Playing in challenging, windy conditions on the final day, the 28-year-old Englishman carded a three-under-par 69 to finish the tournament on 16 under par, drawing level with South Africa’s Hennie Otto at the top of the leaderboard.

With both players locked on 274 after 72 holes, Enefer held his nerve in the sudden-death play-off, rolling in an eight-foot birdie putt to seal a breakthrough victory.
Enefer’s win was all the more impressive given his slow start to the final round. Beginning the day five shots off the lead, he dropped two shots early but staged a strong recovery, firing five birdies in a six-hole burst around the turn to force his way back into contention.
A crucial birdie on the 16th hole ensured his place in the play-off before he delivered when it mattered most.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic,” he said. “It’s great to get it over the line. It feels like it’s been a long four days, battling the conditions, but I stayed patient out there and luckily came away with the win.
“I took a lot from being on the DP World Tour. I learned a lot from that year. I came back and tried to be a bit more aggressive on the HotelPlanner Tourm: he added.
“You definitely need to win here to push on, and with 15 cards this year, it’s going to be tough, but it’s nice to win one early.”
Behind the top two, Spain’s Santiago Tarrio finished third on 13 under par, closing with a birdie on the final hole. A group of players shared fourth place on 12 under, led by South Africans Luke Brown and Trevor Fisher Jnr, who were the best-placed home players in a tightly contested leaderboard.
The HotelPlanner Tour now remains in South Africa for the NTT DATA Pro-Am at Fancourt, continuing a pivotal stretch in the Road to Mallorca season.
