Emiratis set for world swim meet
Abu Dhabi - The aim of technical courses were to help the coaches and trainers prepare a generation of swimmers who can participate and compete at various local, continental and international competitions.

The UAE are making sure their swimmers are well prepared for the Fina Short Course World Swimming Championships to be held in Abu Dhabi in 2020.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), in collaboration with the UAE Swimming Federation, has engaged coaches and trainers from various clubs in Abu Dhabi to equip the swimmers when the World Championships comes around.
Under the supervision of Fina International Studies Course for Teachers of Swimming and Water Safety, more than 60 coaches and trainers representing various sports clubs in Abu Dhabi as well swimming coaches from various Abu Dhabi schools took part in technical courses by Australian lecturer John Steitz.
Abdullah Al Wahaibi, General Secretary of the UAE Swimming Federation, said that the aim of these technical courses were to help these coaches and trainers prepare a generation of swimmers who can participate and compete at various local, continental and international competitions, including the Fina Short Course World Swimming Championships to be held in the Capital.
"We had more than 60 coaches and trainers from many sports clubs and schools in Abu Dhabi. This session saw a great level of participation and enthusiasm. The session, which had theory as well as practical, helped these coaches and trainers," Abdullah Al Wahaibi said.
"Through this session, we are trying to hone the coaches and trainers, in order to equip our swimmers for the Fina Short Course World Swimming Championships," he added.
Meanwhile, Talal Al Hashemi, Director of Technical Affairs at ADSC was pleased to see such a turnout for the session.
"We are always there to support all sport and it is our vision to also create an atmosphere which will help our athletes to compete in various local, continental and international events," said Talal Al Hashemi.
"We would like to thank the UAE Swimming Federation for the role they have played in the advancement of the sport and their quest to unearth good swimmers in the country. We will continue to support all the steps and initiatives to promote the sport," he added.
