Champions League: Doue dazzles as PSG humble Inter 5-0 to clinch title

Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League for the first time by thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 on Saturday in the most one-sided final in the competition's history.

Teenager Desire Doue scored twice for PSG and set up the opening goal for Achraf Hakimi in Munich's Allianz Arena before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made it four and then 19-year-old substitute Senny Mayulu completed the scoring.

Doue, 19, produced a dazzling display, setting up Achraf Hakimi to open the scoring from close range after 12 minutes before doubling the lead with a deflected effort eight minutes later.

PSG took the lead after 12 minutes when Hakimi sidefooted home a pass from Doue.

The Parisians went 2-0 ahead eight minutes later when their defender Willian Pacho improbably kept the ball from going out at the PSG end and the resulting fast-flowing move led to Doue firing in a deflected shot that evaded Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

PSG made it 3-0 with a goal created by Vitinha's surging run. He exchanged passes with Ousmane Dembele, before delivering a pass into the path of 19-year-old Doue who drilled the ball into the net.

The match was put beyond doubt by Georgian international Kvaratskhelia's brilliant low finish before Mayulu rounded off a slick passing move.

Qatari-owned PSG are just the second French club since Marseille in 1993 to win European football's top trophy.

The triumph for the Parisians comes after more than a decade of huge investment from their Qatari owners, and five years after they lost to Bayern Munich in their only previous final appearance.

Already French league and cup double winners, they are remarkably just the second ever French winners of European football's biggest prize –- Marseille were the first in 1993, when they beat AC Milan in a final also played in Munich.

It is also a second Champions League for PSG coach Luis Enrique, who won with Lionel Messi's Barcelona a decade ago.

This youthful PSG side is the best the competition has seen since, one that has been intelligently pieced together over the last two years and fully unleashed this season following the departure of Kylian Mbappe.

Indeed the star on the night was teenager Doue, who delivered a masterclass just before he turns 20 on Tuesday.

For Inter, there was to be no first Champions League title since 2010 as they failed to add to their three previous triumphs in the competition.

Simone Inzaghi's side have now got to the final twice in three seasons and lost both, and this defeat comes a week after they missed out on the Serie A title to Napoli.

They end the campaign trophyless, and their ageing side will need to be rebuilt.
