A brilliant batting display helped Taha Cricket Club register a convincing five-wicket victory over Chargers CC in the UAQ Night Premier League Season 1, a Press release said.
The tournament - organised by Umm Al Quwain Cricket Club - is being held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Chargers CC were in for an early shock when Hafiz Kaleem departed for a duck.
But the other opener Fawad Gafoor and Farhan Babar ensured Chargers CC were on track as the duo put up a good partnership.
Gafoor showed lot of aggression as he scored a superb 60 from 40 deliveries with six boundaries and three sixes while Babar smashed a 30-ball 42 with the help of five fours and a six.
A few wickets disturbed the flow for Chargers CC but Rohan Mustafa (15, 13b, 1x4) and Qasim Butt (16 not out, 12b, 2x4) kept the runs going to ensure their team reached a challenging 166 for seven in 20 overs.
For Taha Cricket Club, Ansar Khan and Tahir Zulfiqar bowled well to scalp two wickets each, while Saqib Azeem gave away only 18 runs in his four overs while picking up a wicket.
Chasing a tricky target, Taha Cricket Club were off to a rousing start with opener Ansar Khan going berserk. He survived only for seven deliveries but ensured he made every ball count.
He smashed five sixes and a boundary to score a brisk 34. Saqib Azeem played a cautious innings fetching 30 runs from 33 deliveries supported.
Tahir Zulfiqar mixed caution with aggression as he notched up a timely half century. He made 61 from 43 deliveries with seven hits to the fence and two sixes.
Despite the top order flourish, they still had a distance to cover and Faraz Ahmed and Asmat Nawaz did that it without any problem.
