On Saturday, Hussein Elshahat and Al Ain had a near-perfect match in terms of tactics and implementation of game plan at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium. At the end, Al Ain scored three goals past Esperance de Tunis to reach the semis of Fifa Club World Cup UAE 2018.
Egyptian midfielder Elshahat noted that the meek surrender in the first 44 minutes of opening match versus Team Wellington was uncharacteristic of Al Ain. The players were eager to perform and prove a point to the world. And they did it in great style against Esperance.
Elshahat, who also scored the second goal, walked away with the Man of the Match trophy. He said the 'Boss' aim to go all the way in the tournament.
"This award is for the whole team and the fans, who continue to motivate us. This award is a motivation for me to perform even better and help team in its pursuit of great ambitions."
Elshahat said the first match and being 0-3 down was a crucial lesson for everyone. "The coach said we had to be heavily focused and not repeat mistakes. We did well to score early in an important match. We had strong desire to implement our tactics. I am glad everything worked well for us," Elshahat said.
