If there is one batsman the opposition would like to see the back of him as quickly as possible, it is Jonathan Figy.
The left-handed opener has been in sparkling form for both Abu Dhabi Indian School and Zayed Cricket Academy.
Figy, who turns 15 on August, has amassed a remarkable 1,996 runs in 34 matches, including eight centuries, five of them in the Twenty20 format. He has remained not out 10 times and also taken 23 wickets with his left arm medium pacers. He walloped a century to lead ADIS to a resounding 113-run win over Emirates Future International to set up a final showdown with Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School in the UAE Xchange Abu Dhabi School League U16 final.
Figy reached the three-figure mark with a single on the final delivery of their inning for his team to post a challenging 190 for three at the ADCC Nursery Oval-2.
His 67-ball knock contained 10 boundaries. He shared an unfinished 88-run stand for the fourth wicket with Zaid Shaikh, who chipped in with a 16-ball 24 not out that included three fours.
Nooran Thakur and Sahil Hariani took three wickets apiece as Emirates Future International were bowled out for 77.
Pakistan School overcame some anxious moments before emerging four-wicket winners over The Cambridge High School in a low-scoring second semifinal. Khalid Mahmood took four for 18 from four overs to bundle out Cambridge for 69. Karthik Meiyappan and Salman Yoosuf then took two wickets each to have Pakistan School in a bit of a spot before knocking off the runs with more than five overs to spare.
Anwar Khan, the wicketkeeper batsman, played a little cameo knock 25 from 10 balls to put his side on the path of victory. It is Pakistan School's third final. They won the U14 title defeating ADIS and lost to Cambridge in the U19 final.
