Winners of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award announced

The Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Sports Creative Award has announced 16 winners of the fourth edition of the award.

Osman al-Saad, secretary general of Arab Olympic Committees has been selected as year sports personality, Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, has also been selected for her role in enriching the women movement, while International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge has been selected as international sports personality.

The names of the 16 various winners were announced by Mattar Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC) at a press conference held today at the InterContinental hotel in Dubai Festival City. Present were Dr Ahmad Saad Al Sharif, General Secretary of DSC, Dr Atiq Odayat, and other dignitaries.

At the UAE level, Abdullah Sultan Hamad Masaud Al Aryani, won the individual sports creativity award, while Hamed Mohammed Ahmed Al Roumi, won the award of best judge. At the Arab level: Algerian Olympic gold medallist Tawfiq Al Makloufi, won the Arab individual sports creativity award, while Jibril Rajoub, Chairman of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, won the sports administrative creativity award and the Qatari National Olympic Committee also won the sports institutional creative award.

The awards will be presented to the winners at a special function to be held here on January 6, 2013.

Al Tayer congratulated the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses Members of Supreme Council and Rulers of Emirates and UAE citizens and expatriates on the 41st national day anniversary.

He pledged loyalty to the leadership in the name of all sportsmen nationwide.
