Every year during the school summer break in the UAE, the Dubai-based G Force Cricket Academy embark on a trip to England to help the rising stars test their skills against some of the top young talents at the home of cricket.
But now as the Covid-19 pandemic has forced several countries across the world to close their borders, the G Force Academy has made sure the travel restrictions won't throw a spanner in their work.
Having reopened their facilities on June 1 following the Covid-19-enfroced break, the leading cricket academy in Dubai has put all the strict health protocols in place keeping in mind the safety of the cricketers.
"This year we are not travelling to England due to Covid restrictions, but we are making up for it with our training sessions in Dubai," Gopal Jasapara, the academy's founder and head coach, told Khaleej Times on Sunday,
"We resumed on June 1. We have one evening session every day from the 6:30pm to 8pm. We began with 9-10 boys. We have put all the health and safety protocols in place. We check the temperature, we have sanitizers at every corner, we clean everything before the students arrive for training," he added.
The academy also started their indoor training on Sunday.
"No we have around 30 boys - our capacity is 200 -- after the ban on under 12 kids have been lifted. And today, we also had indoor sessions in the morning. We had six boys today," he said.
"We are not after numbers now, we are focused on delivering quality practice sessions.
"Also our boys are back in shape now. Out fitness trainer has worked really hard on them after the three months of Covid-19 restrictions. So we are committed to providing the children with the quality cricket training in a safe environment."
