UAE cricket has produced some talented cricketers over the years. None bigger than Khurram Khan who played international cricket till the age of 44.

In that time, Khurram was instrumental in UAE playing major tournaments including the Asia Cup and World Cup. While the current squad did not qualify for the World T20 next year, a few players have stood out with their performances during the recent qualifiers tournament held here in the UAE.

Two of those were Muhammed Usman and Waheed Ahmed. Usman scored an unbeaten 89 against Canada in Abu Dhabi while Waheed delivered all-round performances through out the tournament.

What is common between Khurram, Usman and Waheed, is that all three are involved with the Delhi Bulls franchise in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League.

While Khurram will assist super coach Stephen Fleming through the tournament, Usman and Waheed make up the UAE contingent for the Bulls. Khurram who held a similar role with Bengal Tigers (now Delhi Bulls) in Season 1 of T10, rejoins the franchise and hopes his past experiences will help him develop his coaching skills. While tight flight schedules at Emirates keeps Khurram busy, he is excited to join the squad. "When I got the call from Anis Sajan, I immediately checked my work schedule and made sure if there was a clash, I avoided it, just to ensure I team up with Fleming. He has achieved so much as a cricketer and now coach, and I am sure this opportunity will help me contribute more to this game that I love so much," Khurram said.

Khurram also had a few words for the UAE players. "Usman and Waheed are such talented players. I have a strong desire to ensure their contributions are meaningful. Only performances that have a positive impact on the game are recognised and that is why I want these UAE boys to prove themselves."

Usman showed glimpses of his worth, when he contributed twice with strong batting performances for Bengal Tigers last year. Such was the impact, that he was the only UAE player retained by any squad prior to the player draft. Team Mentor Anis Sajan praised Usman for his confidence, "Usman didn't get a chance to play the first few games last year. But when he came in, he immediately performed with the bat. It was all down to his confidence. He really impressed me. So while other franchises were retaining big international stars, we saw value in retaining Usman."

On his reason for picking Waheed, he credits Khurram, he given a few options by Khurram and it was Khurram who insisted we pick Waheeh. So I have to give him the credit for it. Waheed played well in the World T20 Qualifiers, so I hope he brings that form to T10."

Anis Sajan had a team where he had employed 30 players only to play for his team Danube Lions.

Delhi Bulls will face Shane Watson led Deccan Gladiators in the first game of Abu Dhabi T10 League on Nov. 15.
