The rising cricketers are eagerly waiting for September 19 - the day the Indian Premier League will start in the UAE.
With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expecting to get the approval from the Indian government to move the delayed IPL to the UAE in the next few days, the franchises have already begun their preparations in India.
And here in the UAE, the cricket fraternity can't wait to see their favourite teams in action in the world's richest T20 league.
The students at the G Force Cricket Academy, one of the top cricket academies in Dubai, are already gearing up for the IPL as they turned up for their training session wearing the jerseys of their favourite teams.
"We had 16 boys in our training session yesterday. They all turned up in the colours of their favourite IPL teams," Gopal Jasapara, the head coach of the G Force Cricket Academy, told Khaleej Times on Sunday.
"The boys had their regular batting and bowling training sessions. Our bowling machine was also used. Everything about our training session was normal, but of course, it had the IPL flavor," added Jasapara.
Bhavesh Lalchandani, a talented 17-year-old batsman, is a huge fan of Kolkata Knight Riders' West Indian star Andre Russell.
"I am looking forward to watching KKR in the IPL. I will enjoy the huge sixes of Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik's captaincy," said Bhavesh who expects KKR to reach the final.
Meanwhile, Ridhay Bhatia, a 13-year-old batsman, hopes KKR owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be in the UAE to support his team.
"I want KKR to win the tournament this time. And I hope Shah Rukh will be here for all the matches to support the team," he said.
The academy, which reopened their facilities on the first of July following the Covid-19-enforced break, has already taken part in under 15 and under 17 local tournaments in Ajman, according to Jasapara.
