Six teams to vie for kabaddi honours
Kabaddi is a popular and entertaining game in Asia especially India where it is played in every town and village. Kabaddi is a combination of wrestling, karate, athletics and racing and is the favourite sport of Punjabis. The Car Fair Group Kabaddi Cup has been held in Dubai for the past three years in which leading players of Kabaddi have participated.
This year the tournament will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Dubai Police Officers Club. In the latest edition, six teams (Grudaspur Lions, Gill Lions, Shar-e-Punjab, Kobine Kabbadi Kings, Spring Waly Soliders and Bagwanpur Warriors) will take part. The matches will be played from 8am to 6pm to decide the winner.
Prominent businessman and founder of Car Fair Group Kabbadi Cup Dubai, K. S. Bassi said, "Kabaddi is a favourite sport of Punjabis, it is also a part of our tradition and culture so we are try to popularise this tradition in the world. Kabbadi is our regional game and it is our duty to make it famous around the world.
"The purpose of organising Kabaddi tournament in Dubai is to promote our traditions and culture through sports." Bassi further said, "Top teams and players from Punjab take part and the people here come and watch this popular game, we have been organising this successful event for the last three years and now it became one of the top events of Dubai."
Owner of Gill Lions teamTarlochan Singh Gill said, "Kabbadi is our traditional game and we want to preserve our tradition and this is why we are organising this for kabaddi fans in Dubai. In the team Gill Lions all players are professional and we are hopeful that the kabaddi fans will enjoy the game and remember it."
Gaganpreet Singh CEO Exclusive Vibes Dubai said, "Like previous years, this event will be remembered for long time. We are thankful to Dubai Police and Dubai Sports Council for cooperation to organise this event and we are hopeful that hundreds of kabbadi fans will watch and enjoy the game."
