Dubai - Six-time UAE Champion Trainer Doug Watson saw his Cosmo Charlie come in third

North America, the mount of Richard Mullen, made it two wins on the bounce by clinching Round 2 of the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge at the sixth meeting of the Dubai World Cup Carnival on Thursday night.
Satish Seemar's charge, who had won Round 1 in January, won the 1900 metres race by 2.25 lengths over Ahmad bin Harmash's New Trails at the Meydan Racecourse.
Six-time UAE Champion Trainer Doug Watson saw his Cosmo Charlie come in third.
Meanwhile, Emirati handler Saeed bin Suroor's Estihdaaf put an halt to Walking Thunder's winning streak, by besting the Phoenix Syndicate-owned Violence colt in the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas.
Walking Thunder, trainer by Ahmad bin Harmash, had won on all his three starts, including the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial, raising prospects of a fourth.
But Estihdaaf, conjured a stellar show under Christophe Soumillon, to hand bin Suroor a seventh winner in the race.
"I was confident he could run the mile and I knew the dirt would suit him because of his breeding," said Saeed bin Suroor.
"I told Christophe to be handy with him like he was in the morning and it went well. Last time he came from too far back, but this time I told him to put him in position," he added.
Meanwhile, Soumillon said: "When Saeed gets some ideas, he can make things work. He showed more speed today. I told Saeed last time that if I had hit the front, I would have won it, and finally we did it today. It was a better race, and we are all very happy with it," he added.
Sporting Chance had set the early pace before Estihdaaf and Walking Thunder, ridden by Connor Beasley, went toe to toe, with 500 metres left.
Estihdaaf then went on to put daylight between him and Walking Thunder, winning the eight-furlong affair by 5.5 lengths.
It was the Arch colt's second victory in six starts.
Bent Olsen's Red Cactus was third, 2.25 lengths behind Walking Thunder.
The evening had begun with Tabarak, notching his maiden win in only his second start.
The bay colt from Quality Road, won the Al Naboodah Commercial Group, the first race on the card, by two lengths over Midnight Sands.
Tabarak, who is trained by Rashed Bouresly and ridden by Royston Ffrench, jostled for the lead with Midnight Sands, the charge of Doug Watson and the mount of Sam Hitchcott.
The latter had pulled away with 800 metres to go but Tabarak rallied well with 300 metres of the 1400 metres left to play out and took the winning post.
Karaginsky, the ride of Richard Mullen, placed third, for trainer Satish Seemar, some 9.75 lengths behind Midnight Sands.
Meanwhile, it was a one-two for Godolphin with Dubhe leading Red Galileo home in the Al Naboodah Honeywell Partnership, a course and distance prep for the $1.5 million Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup.
It was a tight affair over the 3200 metres contest on turf with Jamie Osborne's Jukebox Jive making the early running.
But as the lengthy race wore on, Red Galileo, the charge of Saeed bin Suroor, entered the mix.
But Dubhe, the son of Dubawi and trained by Charlie Appleby, held on to win by four lengths over Red Galileo.
And it was a double for Appleby and William Buick with Nordic Lights winning the Al Naboodah Travel over 1800 metres on turf.
