Pop star Katy Perry will perform for Women's T20 World Cup next March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Unveiled as the entertainer for the tournament that begins in 100 days, the "Roar" singer will perform during both the pre-game show and the post-match celebration March 8, 2020.
The final of the tournament, to be held on International Women's Day, is aiming to set a new world record for attendance at a women's sporting fixture, according to Cricket.com.au. The current record crowd of 90,185 was set at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final in Pasadena, California.

"I'm all about celebrating equality and the achievements of women, which naturally happens on a global scale on International Women's Day," said Perry, adding, "It's no coincidence that I said yes to performing live at the women's final on this day."
Australia and India will open the tournament at the Sydney Showgrounds Stadium on February 21. While matches will also be played at the WACA Ground, Manuka Oval and Junction Oval, before the semi-finals at the Sydney Cricket Ground on March 5.
