Sharjah wrapped up their season with a victory over 10-man Dibba in the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday night.
Vander Viera and Welliton Soares, both scored from penalties as The King got the better of Dibba 2-1 at the Khaled bin Mohamed Stadium.
Dibba were left to play the remaining 10 minutes of the game with 10 men after Diogo Da Silva was given a direct red card by the referee.
Sharjah temporarily moved to sixth, their eighth victory giving Abdulaziz Al Anbari's men 29 points. It matches their best ever finish achieved eight years ago, after the League turned professional.
But they will have to wait another day as Al Jazira, who are on 28 points, are set to play Al Wahda. Meanwhile, it was Dibba's 11th defeat but Paulo Comelli and his men would be happy to have avoided the drop, with a game to spare. They are ninth with 21 points.
With this being their last fixture of the season, both side gave it their all so that they could end on a high. And it was quite an intense game with seven yellow cards and one red card being dished out over the course of the game.
Sharjah thought that they had gone ahead on 21 minutes after Welliton Soared had headed in Vander Viera's freekick past goalkeeper Fahd Mohamed. But it was ruled off-side.
But the hosts did take the lead on 36 minutes after they were awarded a penalty. Soares' foray inside the box was thwarted by Fahd Mohamed and the referee pointed to the spot. And Viera was spot in with the spot kick.
But Dibba were to cancel that out two minutes before the break through Ahmed Rashed, whose first-time shot slipped past shot stopper Adel Al Hosani, after Jordanian midfielder Yaseen Mahmoud squared it up from the left.
Sharjah retook the lead on 66 minutes, again through a penalty, after Viera was brought down inside the box. And this time, Soares made no mistake with the penalty.
Dibba were down to 10 men on 80 minutes after Diogo Da Silva was given marching orders for a skirmish.
