Iranian Hospital provides quality service at affordable cost, with an aim to promote Dubai as a hub for medical tourism

Iranian Hospital Dubai, the oldest hospital in the region is not part of a bygone era, but a pioneer in the medical field (and has been since its inception, over 45 years ago). Iranian Hospital-Dubai is a tertiary level medical facility providing a vast range of speciality and sub-specialty services under one roof.
The Hospital serves clients from more than 200 nationalities and houses a manpower of skilled professionals from more than 25 countries across the world.
Dr Parviz Afshaar, current CEO of Iranian Hospital Dubai, has been in the UAE for the past six months on his second mission to the region, where he is determined to provide the best of service to all patients from around the world, regardless of any external factors including finances, age, gender, religion, and political opinion. 
Dr Afshaar's professional history is filled with accomplishments and achievements, and has instituted a number of ground-breaking programmes and initiatives in Iran over the past 25 years, since his graduation from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
His programme for the prevention of HIV and hepatitis in close settings in Iran received approval from the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the best practice in the region, which encouraged him to travel to other countries and implement this programme.
Working in social welfare, he highlighted the needs of vulnerable groups in the country, and helped establish Iran's first social emergency hotline for women, children, and families who require support and treatment. 
His first visit to the UAE was in 2010, where he helped expand the Iranian Hospital to the formidable giant that it is today, with a new extension that spans 35,000 square metres, and features state-of-the-art facilities and a full-automation laboratory.
In 2013, he returned to Iran to work as the Deputy Minister for Drug Prevention and Drug Treatment, establishing over 7,000 clinics across the nation. Six months ago, Dr Afshaar returned to the UAE to continue supporting the Iranian Hospital in its endeavours, and looks forward to working closely with patients and serving humanity. 
"This is very important for me. In Iran, I was the Deputy Minister, where we design and supervise a system. In the hospital, however, you serve people and work closely with them," he said. Having worked in both fields - with patients and much larger systems - Dr Afshaar is uniquely experienced and able to provide the best service. 
His current goal is to help promote the UAE - and in turn, the Iranian Hospital in Dubai - as a hub for medical tourism. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) implemented a strategy for medical tourism within the UAE, and the Iranian Hospital complied with this policy by working with embassies and consulates of different countries, including African countries, to promote medical tourism between these regions. 
"It's not easy to come here; it may be a flight, but we have patients of all levels coming to us, from ministers and members of parliament to ordinary people, to the general public," he added, pointing out that the hospital's services and resources are available to all.
Dr Afshaar deeply believes in Dubai's potential to become a medical hub, thanks to great infrastructure, world-renowned hotels, high-quality hospitals, and a well-connected airline network. 
The Iranian Hospital celebrates a glittering history, with multiple awards and achievements from the Europe Business Assembly and the World Confederation of Business, among others. Apart from this, the hospital has achieved the 'diamond' level by Accreditation Canada International, a global healthcare accreditation programme. 
Besides accolades, it has received numerous appreciation letters from grateful patients, who are thankful for its superior service and the friendliness of the staff. The hospital is also affiliated with the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and works to promote the values of this society and serve humanity, irrespective of race, ethnicity and social standing.
His vision for the hospital is simple; to continue being the pioneer of healthcare services in the region, and provide everyone with quality, affordable healthcare. Apart from the main hospital, there are two satellite clinics in Al Qouz and Karama to give people access to high-quality services across the city. 
"I would like to show my appreciation to all my brothers and sisters in the UAE, and to all the government authorities in Dubai for supporting the Iranian Hospital, and enabling us to reach this level of success," he concluded. Having transitioned from the public sector in Iran to the semi-private sector here in Dubai, Dr Afshaar continues to uphold his personal philosophy of serving all walks of humanity despite all odds.
