According to the Mirror, the asteroid will come within 16,852,369 kilometres of Earth which is about 43 times the distance from the Earth to the moon.
Apophis measures 350 metres in diameter and is named after an ancient Egyptian deity. It will be visible from telescopes on Earth and will be within radar range of the planet.
The asteroid was discovered on June 19, 2004.
