UAE captain Ahmed Raza welcomed Robin Singh's appointment as head coach and director of cricket and is looking forward to working with the former Indian all-rounder.
"Obviously, looking at his credentials, we know that so many titles he has got under his belt. He has played for India, which obviously is not a small thing. And with his knack of picking up titles, I think that will work very much in our favour," Raza said on Wednesday.
Robin replaces Dougie Brown, with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) parting ways with the former Scotland and England international.
"That's not my decision," Raza said of Brown's departure.
"The only way is to look forward and I'm looking forward to working with Robin Singh," he added.
Raza did commend the work done by Brown, especially after the team was hit a corruption scandal.
"It's been a great journey. He was with us for about three years and we have had some great results. We have beaten a Test-playing nation in ODIs, we have beaten a Test-playing nation in T20s. And with all the ups and downs we have had in this three-year journey, I think he has been brilliant," Raza said of Brown.
Raza also said that Robin's appointment could open doors for UAE players in the IPL and CPL.
"With him being part of IPL and CPL as well, and being with the Mumbai Indians, it is beneficial for the players. He could actually work as a scout as well for us. Maybe pick few of us to go to CPL as well which will be a great experience. And we can come back help UAE cricket," felt Raza.
