To many, burgers are comfort food. But the recent trend of serving sliders does a lot to get foodies to try different options while ensuring they retain the appetite to be able to do so. Bite Me Burger Co., at the Ritz Carlton, DIFC, offers an extraordinary range of slider options, which gives foodies enough to choose from. Visiting the restaurant one fine Sunday afternoon, we noticed the attention and detailing paid to the social distancing measures, which helped us feel more comfortable. After all, safety — besides taste, ambience, service, presentation and value for money — has become yet another barometer to judge a dining experience during a pandemic. We were helpfully told that it was perfectly possible to down as many as 12 sliders at one go. If we had any doubts, those were cleared almost as soon as the sliders were served on our table. I opted for the Classic American Bite, which had a grilled beef patty with cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles, along with Hail Caesar, that had corn-fed grilled chicken breast, lettuce, Moneterey Jack cheese, with a Caesar dressing. Bursting with flavours of their own, each slider stands out on its own, and does not overwhelm your appetite, rather builds it further. Having tried the two sliders, we were pretty certain about the claim of having as many as 12 of them under six minutes. The fact that there is a wide range to choose from — from cod to chickpeas to lamb — means you never have more of the same.

Taste: The Classic American Bite was the winner all the way. We were told it was a hotseller, and we could see why. The tender meat complements flavourful toppings. The Hail Caesar was also a winner. However, the one thing that the burger joint has got absolutely right are the truffle fries. Good sides with good burger. What more could we want!

Ambience: For a burger joint, the place oozes a cosiness that’s perfect for a meal out during winters. Social distancing measures are followed, which means the tables on the sides are unoccupied and you can have a conversation without wondering who’s eavesdropping. The outdoor seating area is smaller, but allows you to soak in the winter sun.

Presentation: Presentation is often a challenge when it comes to fast food. We liked that Bite Me Burger kept things simple, and focused on the food instead.

Service: Full marks on that front. The servers were attentive to our preferences, and suggested some great options that had our votes of confidence.

Value for Money: At Dh160 (approximately) for two people, it’s absolute value for money. With a more intimate dining space and a range of options, the dining experience here allows you to relax and unwind, while pampering your taste buds.
