According to local reports quoted in NDTV, the bizarre incident happened with a woman traveling on a train to Guangzhou South railway station in China's Guangdong province. The unnamed woman was said to be laughing at something so loudly that she dislocated her jaw and her mouth stuck open.
The distressed woman called for help and appeal for medical assistance was broadcast through the train's carriages. Fortunately, a doctor named Dr. Luo Wensheng of Liwan Hospital was onboard the train and offered to help the woman, Ladbible reported. "I rushed over and found the passenger unable to speak or close her mouth. She was drooling, so I initially thought she had had a stroke. But I took her blood pressure, then asked her some questions, and learned that she had actually dislocated her jaw," said Dr. Wensheng.
He was able to reset the woman's jaw on a second attempt. "I did it while she was distracted, and luckily it went back in place," Dr. Wensheng said.
The woman passenger later revealed it was the second time that she had dislocated her jaw. The first time it happened to her was due to vomiting during her pregnancy.
