In a fit of rage, a kindergarten teacher had an argument with her colleague following which she poisoned 25 children, one of whom died.

Wang Yun has been sentenced to death.

The teacher was arrested in Jiaozuo, central China, for poisoning her colleague's students' breakfast with sodium nitrite. Wang acted in revenge after she had a fallout with her colleague, known by her surname Sun, over 'student management issues' on March 27 last year, the Jiaozuo court said in a statement.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, at the time the incident was reported, 23 children began vomiting and fainting after eating their breakfast. Authorities later found that a total of 25 children were poisoned and one child died in January last after spending 10 months in the hospital.

The teacher had also poisoned her husband in 2017 by putting sodium nitrite in his cup, but he escaped with minor injuries.

The court said Wang was 'despicable and vicious', and deserved to be severely punished as the consequences of her crimes were extremely serious.
