Region's biggest vehicle testing village to open in UAE

Ras Al Khaimah is set to have the region's biggest auto testing and registration station in two months. It's going to be a 'multi-service village' that can evaluate up to 1,000 vehicles every day, the chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police has said.
Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police, said 95 per cent of the development work on the new station has already been completed.
"The massive station, being developed in collaboration with the General Resources Authority and Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc), consists of eight testing lanes and has been built on a total area of 50,000 square metres," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.
Vehicle testing will be done in two shifts, morning and evening. And since the village is one-stop shop for motorists, customers may also avail of a host of other services.
"They can fuel up their vehicles, and enjoy other maintenance and lubricating services," the officer said.
They can even dine at the village, with several restaurants coming up. There will also be auto insurance offices, a plant for making number plates, and 360 parking slots, he said.
"The department of economic development, court departments, notary public, and some other government entities will open branches in the village," he added.
Hossam Al Shawi, general manager of Enoc Registration, said the new car registration village has been built according to international standards to meet customers' needs and expectations.
"The village shall be open until the late hours, particularly during weekends," he said.
