Riyadh - On Monday the 84-year-old ruler was admitted to hospital in Riyadh, suffering from inflammation of the gall bladder.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, held a cabinet meeting on Tuesday via video call from Kind Faisal Hospital in Riyadh, state news agency (SPA) said.
 

A Saudi royal court statement said on Monday that the 84-year-old King Salman was "admitted to King Faisal specialist hospital in Riyadh for some medical tests due to cholecystitis", inflammation of the gallbladder.
According to the Saudi Gazette on Tuesday, the outset of the session, King Salman thanked and praised Allah Almighty for his health and well-being. He also thanked everyone who checked on his health.
Thereafter, the Cabinet reviewed preparations made by the relevant government agencies for this year's Haj, while taking all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Acting Minister of Media Dr Majid Al Qasabi stated that the Cabinet reviewed a number of developments with regard to Covid-19 both at the preventive and therapeutic levels.
Members also discussed the outcomes of the third session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council in Riyadh, which resulted in exploring opportunities for cooperation in all fields developing strategic partnerships and protecting the common interests.
The statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency did not disclose any further details.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhemi's scheduled visit to Saudi Arabia, which was due to start on Monday, has been postponed after King Salman's hospitalisation, according to the Saudi foreign minister.
"In recognition of the extremely important visit and a desire to make it a success, our wise leadership in coordination with our brothers in Iraq have decided to postpone the visit" until the king leaves hospital, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan wrote on Twitter.
